Our Community Will Not Grow With Hate Speeches And Untrue Stories — Sopen Lukale

Oba Mufutau Yusuf, Sopenlukale of Oke-Sopen, clarifies his development demands from Dangote Group and debunks rumours circulating on social media.

A topnotch traditional ruler in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North local government area of Ogun State, Oba Mufutau Yusuf, the Sopenlukale of Oke Sopen, has debunked news being peddled around, particularly on social media platforms wherein he was alleged to have made "outrageous" demands while discussing terms of agreement with the Dangote group.

As the host traditional ruler of the community where the resources were discovered, the King explained that his demands were made with modesty and are in line with the Mining Act, aimed at bringing developmental projects to the community.

Among the community's demands from Dangote Group are:

  • Employment of immediate communities graduates by the Dangote Group
  • Completion of ongoing projects like schools with full classroom furniture and health centres with medical facilities
  • Yearly scholarship award to university and secondary school students of immediate communities and Ijebu Igbo Community
  • Renovation and equipment of the General Hospital, Ijebu Igbo
  • Construction of Oke Sopen Community Town Hall
  • Training of youth in Dangote Technical Skill Acquisition Centre
  • Provision of 20 Solar Boreholes to strategic locations in Ijebu Igbo Township

Oba Mufutau Yusuf warned rumour peddlers to desist, noting: "Nothing travels faster than fake news and it is majorly done out of hatred. Our community cannot grow with hate speeches and untrue stories."
